From the recording A Look To The West

Lyrics

One look behind me I see a face sleeping with fear. He sits down beside me. I can’t help but notice the weight of this world upon him balanced by shoulders too thin. A glimpse from my own life. I feel as those I must share. Then I turned to him and say.

This life may never feel. Like you always thought it would. Give it time. A search this hard comes to you blind. A message from an old man.

If you rely too much on what’s been taught to you. You may never learn what this life is all about. Say a pray and hold on tight.

Open door. I enter a grown man without a free thought. I sit down next to this old man sipping from his glass. I sighed as I thought that in his life did the world seem so useless at times. I define my Now from a story. A thousand rainy days, with a thousand clear nights. Then he turned to me and said.

This life may never feel. Like you always thought it would. Give it time. A search this hard comes to you blind. A message from an old man.

I guess I thought I was special and all alone. Like no one else has been down this road before. I looked into your eyes and I could see your families pride. I listened to what you said and then I stored it in my heart. This time I shared with you has put my soul back in the light. I’ll take your message and I’ll pass it on down.
